Pampered privacy for enjoying OSF in beautiful Ashland historic district Positive: Excellent location in quieter, shadier Ashland Historic District. Adjacent restaurant and coffee shop next door to restaurant complete the experience. And easy walking distance to well-stocked food co-op for more variety. Rooms are air-conditioned so no worries if wildfire smoke is present. The common area is very relaxing and comfortable, extending one’s space if renting a smaller room. Convenient to OSF theaters and Main Street. Negative: The clawfoot bathtub room only has one chair, which is inconvenient if a couple, because the bed is too high to sit on comfortably. Also, the bed is against the entry door opening, so minimal privacy if another guest is walking by when door is opened. The room’s furniture layout shown in the brochure would increase privacy.

Skip this unless you want to have an overly vintage experience Positive: no breakfast was included so this question is NA Negative: creaky small room, every single pillow was uncomfortable, nail sticking out of floor that was by the window, hard to get in and out of bed at that side, we woke up at 3am and went back to our home to sleep since it was a staycation for our anniversary. It was a memorable experience but not in the right way!

I loved staying at the Peerless. Not only was it very quiet and perfectly located for an easy walk to the theaters, Lithia Park, and great restaurants (including Noble coffee next door), it held the charm of history. Decorated with artifacts, the lobby and hallway gave us a glimpse into another era, and I enjoyed imagining all of the humans who'd stayed there before me. My room was very clean, as were the linens and towels. Despite being the smallest room in the hotel, #6 had plenty of room for suitcases and bags and offered a small armoire and dresser to help things stay organized. I appreciated having a mini-fridge in the room and ice downstairs in the beautiful, quiet common room. I also took advantage of a soak in the lovely claw-footed tub. While I could hear other guests coming up the stairs, the sounds were slight, and people seemed to respect the hushed atmosphere. The air conditioner was a bit loud, but I got used to the sound. The hotel stayed at a comfortable temperature throughout the warm days of my stay. My only wish would be for cotton sheets instead of synthetic ones, but this is a small thing when compared to the overall enjoyment of staying at a well-kept historic property. In my travels, I rarely find the peace and comfort I experienced at the Peerless. I look forward to returning next year!
