Enjoyed the ambiance! Positive: A wonderful place to stay! Love the Victorian decor, friendly and accommodating staff. Roomy and comfortable rooms. Negative: We were there for the plays, so it was a bit too far to walk. But the location is great for quiet and having time to oneself or couples.

Overall very good. Positive: Very comfortable and quiet. Excellent restaurant next door. Parking convenient right at the door. Negative: Unfortunate that there is no staff there most of the time.

The Peerless is a lovely historic hotel with an interesting history. Positive: The Peerless is a beautiful historic hotel that is comfortable and included nice amenities (i.e. chocolate and prosecco in the room upon arrival). I enjoyed reading about the hotel's history and viewing the many photos throughout the hotel. It is an easy walk from downtown, dining, and the Shakespeare Festival, but I chose to park in the downtown parking structure for evening plays because it is kind of dark for walking at night in many areas of Ashland. Negative: My room was on the second floor and the stairs are steep since it's an old hotel that dates to 1900. Not a problem for younger people, but I would have preferred a first floor room--especially for getting luggage in and out of the room. After I booked I realized there was no TV in the room. That is typically not a problem, but I really wanted to watch the baseball playoff games when I was not attending plays, so I went to a sports bar and Louie's for baseball games. The first night I arrived the code to enter the hotel did not work for me. However, another guest dropped by, and after a couple attempts, she got me in. The code worked the following day, but on a later day, the code did not work at all. I luckily had the help phone number handy so I called. I was told to go in the back door and the front door code issues were subsequently resolved. The staff members associated with the hotel were very kind and helpful. :)

Charming stay in a historic building Positive: Appreciated the communication prior to arrival. The building is really attractive. The room, though small, was well appointed. Negative: Please consider swapping the powdered coffee creamer for liquid creamer. Small thing but powdered coffee creamer is gross.

Lovely, beautifully renovated historic hotel on the edge of downtown Ashland, Positive: Lovely, tastefully decorated renovated historic building with elegant lobby and rooms filled with fun antiques. Very comfortable bed, large, clean and well maintained room with high ceilings. Coffee and tea in lobby in the morning. Negative: Our friends’ room was on the second floor, and there was an engine noise above their room, possibly from the air conditioning, that was disruptive. Locations was OK, as long as you’re able to comfortably walk about half a mile to the theater.
