Our first time at this property. Stayed in the Honeymoon Suite (#7). The building & room is a great blend of old and new. Loved the parlor room for a place to hangout when the my spouse was sleeping. There is an adjoining room if you want to have connecting rooms. However it seemed like we could hear just about everything that went on in that other room... The Peerless Restaurant is right next door with nice alfresco dining... don't miss happy hour from 4-5pm. There is a nice coffee shop next to the restaurant for beverages & pastries in the morning. It's a 5-15 minute walk to many other places to eat & drink downtown as well as the theatres. If you go out at night make sure you have a light source for walking on some of the uneven sidewalks ... a phone is barely adequate. Note there is no onsite staff. My wife loved the privacy of that 'feature'. We had good communication with the hotel via email. Don't miss the generous Oregon Shakespeare Festival discounts that are available when you book a room. Things we'd improve: * there are window shades but it doesn't keep the room very dark after sunrise if you prefer 'dark sleeping' * there are vents in the ceiling and sometimes it seemed there was cool air coming out but we didn't see how to control it * the ceiling fan only has one speed * there are two stairways; the inside one might be a challenge for seniors; there is a wider, non-twisty staircase on the North side of the building but it is for exit only * crazy number of add on fees and some of them didn't have a good explanation

Positive: Location and style. The hotel is lovely! Negative: I wish I would have known about the wedding next store. I would have stayed out until the music stopped. It was located just below our window and the bass vibration was uncomfortable

All in all a pleasant stay, thanks. Positive: Loved the location, house was well appointed in period furniture, the key codes worked well, the room was lovely with the balcony and large tub, we appreciated the ice machine, chocolate in the room, and the champagne provided. Negative: The room got very warm during the day, and took time to cool down at night. The air conditioner worked intermittently from a central source, and didn’t quite cool down the room before it would turn off. Fortunately the night temperature dropped and cool air was helpful from the open windows. The room coffee pot was rinsed but smelled of stale coffee, a pet peeve of mine, so we cleaned it and enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony. We did try the morning coffee provided in the community room but it was tepid.
